Could I have an estimate of cost....Naples to Positano (train/bus) or Rome to Positano (train/ferry)?
Rome to Naples 57 euro 1st class 44 2nd with the speed train alittle over one hour about half the fare with the slow train which takes about 2 hrs. The ferry is about 10 euro to positano
I didn't know about the ferry. what site do you use to find out scheduling and stuff?
i googled ferry naples positano and a site took me to ferry sites
You might just want to make your decision based on the cities you wish to see the most. You're choosing between 2 different cities so pick the 1 you like the most and find the trains that will get you to there and to Positano the quickest and easiest. They are both wonderful cities so it may be a tough decision. Donna
Depending on when you book your tickets you may also qualify for the "mini" fare. They can be as low as 19 euros each way from Rome to Naples. This is on the high speed train but the fares are capacity controlled so buy them as soon as you can. Donna
Thanks - I'm trying to compare costs of the Naples/Sorrento/Positano(bus) route versus the Rome/Salerno/Positano(ferry) route....which would be quicker and/or cheaper in September.
Well the quicker route would be the one starting in Naples. Rome is at least an hour past Naples by high speed train. Going from Naples to Sorrento is easy on the circumvesuviana train. It takes about an hour and should cost around 10-12 euros. Can't help with getting to Salerno or Positano as I haven't been but I'm sure there are buses to each. Donna
Thanks Donna! We are really coming from Florence, but I didn't want to make my questions too complicated - so much for that.............. we have to choose the train from Florence to Naples/Sorrento/Positano, or...the train to Rome/Salerno/Positano..
Our cities are Florence and Positano.......it's the quickest route we're trying to decide.
