I know when visiting churches in Italy they ask you to have your shoulders and legs covered. Do they also have a no open toes rule? Someone just told me this.
Good question Deb. I've always worn my hiking sandals - with socks. Stupid look - but comfortable.
I'll be interested in this answer too!
I've worn Keen sandals, as well as open toe sandals, no socks.
Nope, many monks wear sandals. We wore sandals in many places. Saw a few teens wearing thin flip-flops and could only think how badly their feet must have hurt after walking on cobblestones all day! Just no knees, shoulders and midriffs showing.
My wife worn open-toed sandals to many churches. Never was questioned about them.
I've never encountered shoe police in any of the churches I've visited. Do have covered shoulders, as you already know!
When we visited the synagogue in Florence we were given scarves to cover our heads and shoulders....but never in a church.
