Does anyone have updated info on the Appenine Colossus? This sight is an area my teenage son has read about and really wants to visit on our upcoming trip to Florence. Other than info posted several years ago, saying it is temporarily closed, I cannot find a thing about it. Does it still exist? Is it currently open to the public?
There may be some info at the Unusual Places website.
It's at the park of Villa Demidoff, in Pratolino. It's owned and operated by the Metropolitan City of Florence (formerly the Province of Florence).
It's open on Friday, Sat, Sunday and holidays from Easter till the last Sunday in October. Free admittance.
Wow, thank you to all! Protallina? Is that an area that can be reached by train or bus from Florence? Looks like it's about 20 minutes away?
Pratolino. Sorry!!
No trains. Pratolino is on top of a hill. Take the city bus 25A from Piazza San Marco in Florence.
