Appartments in Rome

We are planning to go to Rome in the fall and would like to rent an apartment. Does anyone know of a site that they can recommend with confidence? Thank you
Andy

I've had great experiences twice with Sleep in Italy. We stayed in the Gregoriana Capo and Balestrari apartments and I'd love to go back to either!

www.vrbo.com has lots of apartments listed, by owner. We stayed at one in Trastevere in 2008 that I could recommend, if you're interested. PM me if you are. We're staying at another apartment this coming May, near Campo de' Fiori. Very low price for that one because it's very tiny and no view.

Agree with Laurel...the Palazzo Olivia apartments are great! (Also a little jealous of Laurel that she's returning there in December!!! LOL). Seriously though, the location can't be beat and the apartment is very clean and comfortable. The reviews on Trip Advisor say it all. We really enjoyed our stay there and would not hesitate to stay there again. Have a great trip.

I also recommend VRBO.com which we used for our 2 week stay in Rome in 2010. Our apt was near Re di Roma metro stop and also bus routes. This location was a different kind of experience since it was outside the normal tourist areas and we lived and shopped for groceries etc as the locals do. The owner picked us up at the airport and took us back at the end of our stay. He also had us to his family home for a wonderful typical Italian dinner!! We are still friends with the owner and e-mail back & forth to keep up. When contacting the owners through this site, I usually ask for consideration on the price depending on the length of the stay or the time of year. Most offered some kind of discount. I also consider transportation ease when looking for an apartment. We booked an apartment in Florence in the Oltrarno for our trip this year, also through VRBO. Have a great trip!!

Used VRBO for a rental in the Parioli area of Rome last September - great experience. Owner offered to deliver us to and from the train station. Have used VRBO elsewhere in Italy and in the U.S. Never any problems.

We used VRBO to find our apt (VRBO# 13150)in the Veneto area. It was outside the tourist areas, but had wonderful express busses that took us either to the Spanish Steps, or to town near Termini. It was spacious, bright, and had baconies that over looked a park and a river, and was two blocks from the train station that wisked us from the airport. Best deal was the price; $100 US/nite. We use VRBO and Homelidays to find apts in many places in the EU, and alwayswith great results.
