Apartment rentals - too many choices

Ok, here's what I'm looking for: 2 weeks Sept 27-Oct 12
- Air conditioning,
- wi-fi or DSL internet connection (bringing my own laptop computer), TV
- shower ok (tub not necessary)
- laundry on site or nearby
- kitchenette with stove top and/or microwave, table and chairs
- 2 beds or bed and pull-out sofa - my sister is staying with me for 3 nights
- area close to metro or termini, coloseum, or trastevre
safe area, will walk up 1-2 flights of stairs

There seem to be just too many agencies to check out. Any suggestions or recommendations of either an apartment or an agency that I can call to find one that meets my needs? Hoping to hear from some great travellers on this one.

oh yes, and hopefully for less than 600 euros per week.

I have been through that process and it is very confusing and easy to be overwhelmed. You will find that many apartments are rented through multiple agencies.

Try looking at the many reviews on www.slowtrav.com

We rented through www.realrome.com almost 2 years ago and were very pleased with everything.

I will say that your budget is low for central Rome.

We've had good luck with homelidays.com. It's a clearinghouse, so you are in contact with the owners directly. All sorts of comments are posted, and while there has been some controversy over the removal of some negative comments, it has generally been pretty accurate as far as we've experienced.

We have always had good experiences w VRBO. You deal directly w the owners or an agent of theirs onsite of the apartment

We booked a wonderful hassle free apartment via VRBO and I highly recommend them. You may need to look a bit further out given your price requirement.

Dennis, i went through the same process a few weeks ago, and after reading all the reviews about the different agencies i decided to go with www.b-b.rm.it, they we're very helpful and very fast to respond. Just tell them what you need and the will give you some apartment suggestions.

Dennis,
We booked 3 apartments with cross-pollinate.com and found them all to be exactly as advertised. What we especially liked was the cancellation policy, full refund if notice give more than 5 days in advance. You can also purchase insurance for 10 Euros per reservation, so if you are delayed or cannot make it to the room, either the first night or not at all, you get a full refund, no problem. I found that to be very comforting. Locations available are in Rome, Venice, Florence, Paris and Barcelona. You can search by neighborhood, price per person budget and it gives you a full list of what to expect: i.e. A/C, what floor the apt is on, lift available, shower or tub, how many can sleep there, etc. I would highly recommend this website. Good luck!

Dennis try www.rentalinrome.com. Very easy to use, able to pick location, price range and video shown of inside. We are staying in a studio apt near the spanish steps, with all you're looking for...100 euro a night high season.

Dennis, I used www.romanhomes.com and stayed in the Monti district in via Panisperna, which I particularly enjoy. However there are apartments in all areas. I prefer to stay where I have a balcony, rooftop area or patio. Good luck.
