We are interested in renting a two bedroom apartment in Cortona for 9 days next April. Has anyone had any experiences they can share? We have come across a number of villas outside of Cortona, but so far very little in the way of apartments in the city. Thanks.
We have rented apartments twice in Cortona. They usually rent by the week, but with tourism down I would think the owners would be willing to work with you on renting for nine days.
The two apartments were: Pancrazi through Classic Tuscan Homes and an apartment through Il Gelosie. Pancrazi had two bedrooms. I really liked it but you have to be willing to navigate a lot of stairs.
We had a one bedroom through Il Gelosie but they also offer a two bedroom apartment. I liked this apartment a lot as well. The only problem was Saturday night. The apartment overlooks the Piazza Republica (sp?) and Saturday night was very noisy as what sounded like hundreds of young people gathered in the square to socialize. That was the only night that it was noisy though.
We have some acquaintances outside of Cortona who rent out the bottom of their house. They have a wonderful view of Cortona and the location is not too far out of the city. You can find information about their property at Eurobimbo's Journey to Enlightenment.
Here is a link to an apartment that someone sent me recently: www.cortonaweb.net/informazioni/appartamento_del_borgo/index.php
I haven't stayed there but they were. He posts on the board sometime so maybe he will post a review soon.
Jay,
Two years ago, I stayed at B&B LeGelosie. The same owner also rents out apartments in town. Haven't seen the apartments, but the owner was extremely helpful and I was very pleased with my stay at the B&B. The website is www.legelosie.com
