In the early planning stages of a trip to Rome over Christmas season for 6 nights (two adults and one teenager). Any particular suggestions for 1. Area to stay in and 2. Apartments to look into? I have looked through VRBO, Roman Reference, etc., and know there are a lot of options, but a recommendation from this forum would be appreciated. A two bedroom with a washing machine would be preferred, and under $1000 euros for the week. Thanks!
We loved this apartment, and it would be perfect for you, depending on your days... it looks like somebody's got it starting Dec. 26th:

http://www.vrbo.com/86246 Loved this apartment, $100 E a night, plus a 50 E cleaning fee. Look down the street and see the Colosseum 2-3 blocks away. Three bedrooms (two with full beds, one with bunk beds); a wall full of books in the dining room. A huge park a couple blocks away. Has a very neighborhood feel, despite being very close to a tourist area.
A washing machine, but no dryer. Lived in, homey apartment. A computer in one of the bedrooms, and wi-fi hookup
