Apartment or B&B?

My daughter is getting married in Florence next May and my wife and I, along with our other daughter and her husband will be staying in Florence for 5 nights. I don't want to sound cheap but we would rather spend our money on the wedding than on lodging. I read the post below which was helpful but I was wondering if there might be apartments available for just 5 days or should we stick with 2 rooms at a B&B? Any suggestions?

I agree with the post to go for the apartments. Shouldn't have any trouble finding a 2 bedroom. If the listing says they want a full week email and ask if they will rent it for 5 days. In May they may let you do it. Check out VRBO. Read the reviews and look at pictures. If you have questions ask the renter. We have stayed in apartments many times using it and have never been disappointed.

Personally I would shoot for an apartment rather than 2 hotel rooms or 2 rooms in a b&b. I don't know your exact dates but I saw a few 2bd/2ba apts on VRBO that were running under $200/night in May, so you might check them out. Also try Homeandaway and booking.com (which you can filter to look at apartments). I'm sure others will chime in with other suggestions. Congratulations to your daughter, a wedding in Florence - how wonderful.

Thanks for the advice. I checked and there really are a lot of choices of apartments. The trick now is understanding the different neighborhoods since we will be walking everywhere. It would be nice if we could find something close to a market since we want to use the kitchen. Any suggestions?

Bob, this is a city so you can really get easy access to food no matter where you are staying. The real key is what section you want to stay in. I preferred the residential area not far from the Duomo. I would read the Rick Steves book to pick an area you would like to stay than go on VRBO. Look at the reviews, pictures and see if you can google map it. Also don't be afraid to ask the owner lots questions. Like is it quiet? What floor? Is there an elevator? Wifi Service. Most of these things are listed but ask what is important. We have never had a bad apartment using this service many times. Our rule of them is if there are no reviews or very little that are old we skip it.

Bob I also would recommend an apartment rather than a hotel or b&b. You get so much more room to spread out and the apartment options are endless. Love, love, love Florence! Have rented apartments in Florence and used vrbo.com but this past July rented through www.halldis.com Was on a girl's trip with my 2 sisters and niece and we rented the Santa Croce apt. #2261 for 5 nights and we loved it and the wi-fi! Great location right behind the Bargello Museum. (between Piazza Signoria and Santa Croce Church and around the corner from Vivoli's Gelato.) This apt. is located in Palazzo Salviati and there are a number of other rental apts. in the bldg too. Halldis was easy to rent through and quickly answered any questions I had prior to renting. For the security deposit they just took my cc # and did not need cash deposit. Would rent through them again. Congrats on your daughter's upcoming wedding! How fabulous to be married in Florence!

We loved staying in an apartment across the river in the Oltrarno section. We thought it was much quieter being away from the main tourist areas. (And there were plenty of grocery stores!)
