Hoping someone might have some suggestions. My husband and I have never been to Rome and we are going to be staying from May 9-17 2014. We'd like to rent an apartment (because we think it will be cheaper than a hotel) for around $130-135 USD per night in either the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo di fiori areas. Does anyone have a recommendation on what website(s) we can search to find for an apartment that is also a trust worthy site. Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated!

I found an apartment for my May trip on Airbnb.com in that general area. I also searched through VRBO.com. Overall, it's not necessarily the site that is trustworthy but the apartment owner/management themselves. So when you find an apartment in your price range/desired area, read reviews of people who have stayed there. See what they say, how recent the reviews are... Good luck!
We are staying at her bigger place in June (this one is the smaller "loft").
Reviews are good. We haven;t stayed yet, but she was great in the reservations process!

I stayed in the Argentina House apartment in Rome in 2011 and loved it. It is located between the Pantheon and Campo de Fiori.. It is a large one bedroom with high arched ceilings and is very close to multiple great restaurants and transportation links. You can find it on homeaway.com.

We, coincidentally, just booked the same flat as Celeste mentions: www.vrbo.com/336305. It's a bit above your budget mark - I think it worked out to about $160/night and this is for March. We have our adult son coming along so needed the extra space. Maybe Fiora knows of another place in that building? It does sound perfect, if you can spend the extra $$...
Cross-Pollinate.com has some terrific bargains. Do not overlook Prati, the area arouna the Vatican. Well-connected by bus, Metro and tram to other sites.
