apartment location in Rome

Please advise if you are familiar with this area in Rome,

"area between the square of Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona"

(it is the location description for an apartment we are thinking of staying at) Our children will be with us and I would like a spot where we are close to as many things as possible and a safe area.

thank you for your help...

No worries Viv. Try this. Use Google Maps. Type in the address of your hotel, B & B, or apartment. When the map comes up click on the satellite image. Use the tools on the left side to zoom in and out and as you play with it you will have a bird's eye view of how close or far to the "sites" in Rome you are from your accommodation. Remember to visit the daily Camp dei Fiori market. Have a great trip!

That's a great location! We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo late last month, which is just steps away from Campo dei Fiori, which is a short distance from Piazza Navona.

Wonderful, scenic, historic, quaint, charming (I could go on) area ...

I don't know where you copied the text, but the location sounds exactly like where we stayed at this wonderful apartment:

The location is wonderfully central and in the historical center. Great area. Just make sure you do adequate research about your apartment to make sure it's a good one.

Thank you all for your replies! Sounds like a great area to be in.

Tim,

that is the SAME apartment! Too funny. I just sent you a private message.

I'm curious, for future reference (we just returned from our trip) ... do apartments typically have a minimum stay (on a previous trip to Bellagio, apartments required a 1 week commitment)?

So far the apartments we are looking at have a three night minimum. (Paris, Venice and this one in Rome) In some cases I have noticed if you stay less than 4 nights they charge a little extra for cleaning.

hope this helps.

That is helpful. We didn't even consider apartments for our recent trip, since we assumed that they had a larger minimum stay.

We decided to look into apartments because of all the traveling. I wanted to be able to go to fresh markets and cook at "home" Being on the road that long I will get sick of eating out all the time and will want to just stay in and relax with an easy meal and a nice bottle of wine some nights.

Leslie,

it depends. During high season many appartments require a minimum stay of 1 week. Often they also add that the first night has to be a Saturday. In off season, most places are much more flexible.

However, in large centres like Rome the minimum stay is often much shorter and it's not uncommon to find a place for 3 nights.

Well, we were thrilled with all of our accommodations on our trip, but we would definitely consider apartments the next time.

Thanks for the information.
