Apartment in Rome and Florence

Does anyone have a trusted website to rent a Apt. in Rome and Florence. I was going to go through airbnb but read so many negative reviews I am hesitant to use them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

We just stayed at this apartment in Rome. AWESOME! Only down side is a lot of stairs (72), but worth it. Go to Home and Away and search listing # 1004580. Sonia is terrific.

I've rented all over Europe via VRBO.com Never had a significant problem, maybe a leaky faucet or something minor. Rented VRBO 68776 in Florence three times. It's large, first floor (few stairs) a nice little patio, in the Santa Croce area, about 6 blocks to all the sites. Loved it and would stay there again.

Never had a problem with VRBO. For years I've been renting #336305. About 50 stairs to climb - work off that gelato!

We stayed here this past May and really enjoyed it. It's in Trastevere. Apt off Piazza San Cosimato The tons of good and recent reviews are testimony to how great it is. (One of them is ours.)

Hi Lin, I was wondering what negative reviews have you read about airbnb. I have found a few apartments around Italy through that site and was considering renting them. Am a bit worried now! I might have to start searching again. A friend that has been to Italy a couple of times has used and recommended it.

Thanks

I've had very good luck with VRBO also. I've rented in Florence and in Rome through them and was satisfied each time. When I stayed in Istanbul I rented through Tripadvisor but was not impressed with the apartment. I'm renting again through VRBO when I return to Rome next year, they seem to have nicer apartments available.

I had a great experience with an airbnb spot in Rome. I don't have the link off-hand, but the name of the apartment/post was called the owl's nest (or similar). It was in a great location for walking to the Vatican and/or the subway stop for the Vatican. The host is very friendly and helpful and lives locally.

Used VRBO and had no problem. Make sure apartments have several reviews. Rented from Friendly Rentals for our last trip to Rome. Never again. The apartment we rented had 29 good reviews and no negative. They don't post any negative reviews. The apartment was nothing like the photos or described. I sent them a review of the apartment and they never posted it.

Never had problems with Homeaway.

I am renting a 2 bedroom apartment in Florence right now. From VRBO,which I almost always use and have been very satisfied with all the places I've rented through them. VRBO 287291. Across the Arno from central city, about 1 km. to the main sights. So you have to walk a bit, or take a cab. There are buses but I haven't yet figured the routes out. Near the San Frediano world heritage site. Very nice & convenient residential neighborhood.

Owner is very responsive and friendly and speaks English.
