apartment in Rome?

Any suggestions for how to find an apartment in Rome next summer for 1-2 months?

I would start with RentalinRome.com and VRBO.com. Rental in Rome has great pictures and videos of the apartments, while Vacation Rentals by Owners often has great prices since you're usually renting directly from the owners and not an agency.

While Rick doesn't have recommendations, I had bought the Frommer's Italy book also as it did. We rented an apartment in Firenze based on the Frommer book. Can't remember her recommendation for Rome rental company but she did mention some so go to library and check her book.

You can also have a look at www.slowtrav.com to read apartment reviews by people who have stayed there... Interesting and helpful reading.

We stayed in september in a lovely older apartment in Rome near the flower markets about 8 blocks from st peters square and 5 blocks from the metro on 7th floor has lift 2 bedrooms large foyer dining room kitchen bathroom with bidet & washing machine very comfortable and very reasonably priced good area has balcony to relax and smaller balcony at back We went through sleep in italy but this costs a finders fee of 50 euros if interested suggest you touch base with owner (he does not speak english) but you can contact him directly through his friend Umberto at umbtrav@libero.it and ask if Claudios apartment at Via Rodi is available also umberto was kind enough to drop us off at airport for half the cost of a taxi Claudio runs a gentlemens club in the next block so is very handy if any problems they made us feel very welcome and although in an older building very handy to small restaraunts takeaways pastry shops meat & vege markets quiet double glazing was 375eweek inc45e clean fee

Here is another option:

PENSIONE VIRGINIA BIANCHI,
VIA NOSTRA SIGNORA DI LOURDES, 87,
TELEFONO: 06 6629390;
CELLULARE: 347 5938220

We stayed there a week ago. It is a 2BR/2BA condo (so much like an American one, you might be confused). It is right by the Cornelia station in a really nice, inexpensive neighborhood. Traffic is much lighter on the Subway going west from the sights than it is going east.

Don't know how much for renting the place long term but we stayed 6 nights and payed 70€/night for the master BR with private bath. Virginia rented the other BR (they used guest bath) for two of the nights. There was a full kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven), two patios and a living room. And unlike a lot of places that seem to be in Europe, the BRs were separate in that you did not have to go through one to get to the other.
If you look into it, let me know. I can suggest places for groceries, internet, restaurants. Nice, new place. My Italian cousin found it for me.
