Apartment in Orvieto

The train station is down at the bottom of the hill --- you want to be walking distance to it or up in the center of town but a walk plus a bus ride to the station?

For apartments in Italy, I use the map view on booking.com to find a nice one in a location I want. It has worked very well for us in Bologna, Bari, Lecce, and Siena so far.

You will want to be up in town not near train station
Take the bus/funicular down to station

We have also rented an apartment with booking.com in Lucca and with Tripadvisoe in Bologna. Both times worked out well.

I use Airbnb for apartments at the top/old town Orvieto. As others have explained, the train is in the valley and you do not want to stay there you want to be on top/old town of Orvieto. J

We are two people, loved this very immaculate apartment. Four minutes from the Duomo. The homeowner lived next door - she had a full pasta meal waiting on the stove for us! Along with other items like coffee, cream, etc. During our stay, we rented a car, and they (her daughter and she) even met us at the parking lot (at the top) to show us where to park for very low price. They thought of everything. Adorable daughter translated for us to English.
