Apartment in Florence

Hi,
Looking for apartment to rent for 3 to 4 nights with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths (with showers) and terrace. Centrally located. Family run. Preferable in an historic building. Dates will probably be last week in August to first week in September. Any help is appreciated. (There are so many listings to scour through on line!!)

Hi Linda,

We (4 adults) used AirBnB to find apartments in Florence (specific unit no longer available) and Rome a few years ago. Both apartments were great, although we should've prioritized being closer to the town center. I'd recommend using AirBnB (and sites like it) to narrow down your search according to your priorities. Definitely pay attention to the map and how close it is to attractions and transportation. We found the reviews to be very helpful.

We use VRBO to search apartment locations, as well as visitflorence.com.

I've used VRBO to book apartments in Florence, with good results. Use the Filters to refine your search criteria and then I'd suggest focusing on Duomo, Santa Croce, Santo Spirito and SS Annunziata as your neighborhoods. Carefully check the location on the map provided, as some apartments aren't exactly in the listed neighborhood. To be central, make sure it's inside the ring road or for Oltrarno not further out than Pitti Palace. For perspective, it's about a 10-15 minute walk from the ring road into the historic heart of Florence. Also review the pictures and make sure you can identify 2 distinct bedrooms. Some apartments claiming to be 2 bedrooms have just one actual bedroom and a sofa bed or futon in the living room. One property I rented that fits all of your criteria except for a terrace is property number 6701398ha. It's a very nice 2B, 2B (both with showers) apartment near Piazza Santo Spirito. Bedrooms are at the back of the apartment and so are quiet.

Part of the Apartment renting process is doing your due diligence which is the scouring through dozens of listing on multiple websites. You choose the apartment based on your requirements, like do you need an elevator, air conditioning, washing machine? Read the description really well, I found that "sleeps six" can be one bedroom and two fold out couches with one bathroom or a ridiculously small loft and examine the pictures carefully . Also read the cancellation policy, we usually only rent ones that can be cancelled with no penalty and read the most current reviews, even if you need to use a translation website. The good ones go fast, so I would book ASAP for September. We use AirBNB and VRBO. We loved the apartment we rented in Florence through AirBnb, it was literally a 1 min walk to the Duomo and so quiet and cute with a comfy bed and the host left a great selection of Teas which really came in helpful when I developed a slight cold. It was for two people, so would not meet your needs but shows you what a great experience it can be, and it took me a good while to find it.

Hi Linda
We stayed at this flat in Florence last year. The location is amazing - you are across from the Duomo. At the corner of via Servi and the piazza. The flat is large with two bathrooms - one en-suite. One of the showers is small - European style. The kitchen is excellent - important for me because I cook when I am in Italy. The flat does not have a terrace but the living area is comfortable for 3 or 4. There is air conditioning and a washing machine and good WIFI. There is an elevator as well. Eleanor the host is fabulous. She welcomes you with a great tour of the flat and includes complete instructions for all appliances and good tourist information. It was our 3rd trip to Florence but my sister's 1st and the flat was in the perfect location as she could wander on her own and as she said always find her way home - to the Duomo. Here is the website.

I love airbnb to rent apartments and homes throughout the world. I haven't rented one yet in Florence, but that's where I'm going to find out places for our upcoming trip.

Thanks for the help. We do use Vrbo and will continue to search there.
