apartment in florence

has anyone first hand experience with renting an apartment and focusing on florence and taking day trips to other areas? It would seem logical in that you would have a place to stay and leave your things plus light meals when appropriate. suggestions appreciated. fran

We did that in October. 6 days in an apartment. My brother stayed those 6 plus two more so we had the place for 8 days. Family reunion and we did day trips.

We used rentalsflorence.com, stayed in the first place shown on their site right by the Duomo. Paula Frommer's Italy book recommended them I was very pleased.

PM me for more info if you are interested. I have no association with the place. I can give you some suggestions.

We rented an apt.there in Sept. 07 for 5 days, and it was wonderful.
Have a look on slowtrav.com in the vacation review section, for lots of good advice and reviews.
The one we had was called Apartment Michelangelo 351.
Let me know if you need any more info.
We rented through www.rentals-in-florence.com.
Good luck!

We used the travel agency Florence and Abroad http://www.florenceandabroad.com/ Apartments in the city seem to be booked a lot for study abroad students. Sometimes you can negotiate for a better price if you're going between school sessions. Be sure to ask.
