We are headed to Italy in June and want to visit the Aosta Valley area - especially the small town of Doues. Does anyone have experience in the area? We will be coming from Milan and are wondering about train to Aosta, car or car and driver to Does.

Definitely rent a car from Milan and drive there.
There are no rental offices in the city of Aosta except for Europcar at the Aosta airport.
You won't be able to fully enjoy that region using trains and buses, and car with driver will cost you a fortune.

They work primarily with the largest rental companies (Avis, Europcar, Hertz). Select the no deductible insurance option (aka No Insurance Excess) for full coverage as the deductibles may be as high as 1000€.
