Aosta Region Guide Sought

We have a car and will be staying in Turin in May and thought we might venture to Aosta or Cogne for an overnight. I wonder if anyone has a Guide they could recommend who might be willing to lead us on some easier trails in the area, or at least take us on some guided walks where we could learn about the towns and the culture. We are flexible as to which town we go to. But we have read about the Camino Balteo and always enjoy learning more about the history of an area. Thank you!

Hi Joan,
the Camino Balteo is a nice hike through the Aosta Valley. From Turin, you will need about two hours to get to Aosta and about 40 minutes more to get to Cogne by car. Just a few words about the city where I live, Aosta was founded in 25 BCE with the name of Augusta Praetoria Salassorum and has still some Roman ruins like for example Forensic Cryptoporticus, Porta Praetoria Gate, Arch of Augustus, and Roman Theater (which right now is closed due to the restoration works), there are also two beautiful churches like Sant'Orso and the Cathedral with amazing frescos from the 12th century. On the way to Cogne, there is Pondel aqueduct-bridge which is simply stunning. Cogne is a small village in the heart of the National Park Gran Paradiso with a lot of easy walks to do (if there is no snow), people are friendly and very normal. Hanna
