Would be interested in any info from folks who've stayed in Aosta Italy or nearby in summer. How does it compare to other mountain areas such as Dolomites or Chamonix? Were there good / reasonable places to stay? Thanks!

We stayed there a handful of years ago and really enjoyed the city. I don't recall the name of the small hotel we utilized, but it was quite reasonable and within walking distance of the train and bus stations. We did some day hiking including riding some lifts in the mountains. All good. There are some Roman ruins that are interesting. All in all, a very nice city in my opinion.
