Anyone up for a great meal in Rome on Oct 10'th?

My wife and I just signed up for a Traditional Roman Family Feast with Federica & Barbara at Barbara's Place BB Kitchen. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor, it looks like a great time. If there are any other fun-loving foodies out there who will be in Rome on Oct. 10th, we invite you to join us.

Did you sign up through eatwith.com? That's what we did for that same dinner in 2015 and had an absolute blast!

Yes, we did sign up through eatwith.com. There is a youtube video by a young traveling couple, Simon and Martina, titled "Where to Eat in Rome". It chronicles their varied eating experiences while in Rome earlier this year. This feast at Barbara's Place is shown on that video and it looks awesome. I am glad that you had a good experience there. I am sure that Chis and I will have a blast too. Tom

That sounds like a great time! I will not have time in Rome to participate, is there anything comparable to this experience available in Bologna?

Hello Eileen, Bologna should be amazing. If we were going, we would probably do Taste Bologna - Bologna Food Tour. Mostly 5 stars on Trip Advisor, it looks to be a well thought out food tour. Enjoy your time in Italy. Tom

Sounds great, but we'll be in Polignano a Mare.
We'll all be thinking if you. Have a great time.

That looks like a great time and a great meal! We won't be there for the 10th, but soon after. I'll have to look into that for our visit.

It does look like fun!!! We did a similar experience in Las Vegas (of all places). It seems that the people who do these types of things have a very gregarious nature. Kind of a... "no strangers, just friends I have yet to meet" attitude. My kind of peeps!

That sounds fantastic! We will be in Rome on the 10th and are looking at the website now. Is this the $95 dinner? We'll see you there!

Cool Annie, that’s the one. 8PM. (not Tulsa-time). I’ll be the one with a big smile on my face. Tom

Heck, what's 2 more days in the scheme of things? Just go ahead and change your flight to the 11'th and come join the party!! Tom
P.S. A "later in the day" flight on the 11'th might be advisable.

I did this meal on a Saturday night in June, 2017. It was so hot that the party was moved to a cousin's upstairs terrace with kitchen a couple of blocks away. Beautiful!

A few things you might want to know in advance:

  1. People who came together were asked to sit separately so as to mingle better with the other guests.
  2. The wine flowed and flowed. People, including the hosts and workers, got snockered. I don't drink. It was pretty funny to watch.
  3. The event lasted a couple of hours longer than listed.

That put me leaving well after 23:00. It was Saturday and Trastevere was hopping. I decided to take a taxi because of the late hour and because I was by myself. I waited an hour for a taxi and finally shared one with a woman and her granddaughter who were staying close to my apartment.

Your time is on a weeknight, so it probably won't be such a zoo. The other notes will still likely apply, or maybe not!

We did this through EatWith after our RS BOE14 tour. It was an interesting way to end the tour. We enjoyed it. I noticed the prices have gone up a bit since our trip. Yes the drinks very much flowed. The food was just ok but we are not foodies. What I really enjoyed was seeing people from all over the world at the dinner. We went as a family of four. Honestly my kids (teens) were a little taken aback by the amount of drinks that were served. Just a heads up. It was a fun time.
