Anyone take a side trip with a rental car to Slovenia or Croatia from Italy?

Do rental car companies let you go into those countries with rentals? Any problems? Just wondering as we were thinking of poping over to have a look.

When we did France we side tripped to Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland. I think I looked into it back then but I'm second guessing myself and I may have been doing something wrong.

Best source of info for this is the rental car company. The answer may not be the same from each company

If you find an issue with renting in Italy and driving into Slovenia and Croatia, you could take a train/bus into either country and then rent the car.

Nova shows a fee of 30euros to cross EU countries, and 1euro per day for unlimited mileage.

Most companies charge you for taking the car across the border so that is not unusual - if you didn't tell them where you were going, and they didn't ask, I wouldn't worry about it!
We rented a car in Venice and drove it to Slovenia for a week or so.
We used Budget and they were fine with us taking the car there - we specifically used them because they will allow this. Croatia shouldn't be a problem for them if Slovenia isn't.

Oh, wow.

Be sure to read in full all the 'terms and conditions' and 'location policies' of the rental car company to determine what countries are allowed. For BRAC in Venice, its on page 6 of 6 where they list the allowed countries

Most of the reputable companies allow those countries without charge, but you need to doublecheck with the specific companies. You need to buy a vignette at the Slovenia border to drive on that country's roads. I don't know if Croatia requires such.
