OK, thanks to all who posted, we are staying in the Pantheon neighborhood. Rick's pick is there, but I found another hotel a block away - Albergo Del Senato which is in the same price category, but has a great rooftop deck overlooking the Pantheon. I am looking for someone who has stayed there recently? Thanks!!

I have not stayed there personally but have family who have stayed there. They really loved it. They said everything about the hotel is great including the rooms and location. It also gets very high ratings on other sites like TripAdvisor and VirtualTourist. I think you will be very happy with this hotel.

We stayed there several years ago (before the prices increased dramatically).
We visited the rooftop terrace. It provided wonderful views of the piazza, but keep in minds that the walls around the terrace are (appropriately) quite high - to look over them, you need to be standing up. You can't be sitting at your table, sipping a drink, and see right over the side.
Also, if it matters, the breakfast room is an interior room with, as I recall, no windows. This is not uncommon, but just wanted to point it out.
Otherwise, the hotel was very nice and has a great location.

Marie, I stayed at Albergo del Senato last May with my wife on our honeymoon and it was great. The best aspect of the hotel by far is the location; I really don't think it can be beat. They have started renovating their rooms and have begun with the top floors. We asked by email for a renovated room on the top floor and they gave it to us. It had great views of the Pantheon and piazza. Rooms aren't huge, but that never bothers me in Europe. Breakfast is fine, nothing amazing. I would stay there every time I go to Rome if not for the price. I would highly recommend! Send me a private message if you want any more info or pics.
