My husband and I will be going to Lake Como in September and all rooms at the Albergo Milano (Steve's book) were booked but they recommended another one of their properties. I would like to speak to anyone who has stayed at the Casso Rossa in Varenna, apparently owned and operated by the Albergo Milano group. Thanks!!!
Casa Rossa is rated #1 in TripAdvisor, so I think you'd be safe. The only thing I'd say is to be very sure of your dates when booking, because they charge for 1 night right up front. I booked a date in September, found out I had to cancel because I wouldn't be able to get to Lake Como by that date, and was charged a processing fee. Of course I didn't read the fine print, but come on, I canceled 4 months in advance!
