I am headed to Sorrento by Train from Rome to Naples and would like a few hrs in Naples before continuing to Sorrento. though I will have luggage . I’ll be in around 1130am .Thought I could hire a driver at the Naples Centrale train depot and take a ride to the port and around for a couple hrs get pizza lol then drive to our hotel in sorrento . Is it ridiculously expensive ? Just want to see where my grandma lived /the market /and the area she told me stories about but only have 3 days to do Pompeii Capri and Positano Need a driver I can trust if I choose to hang out the afternoon ..
I don’t feel I have enough time to take a trip to Naples from Sorrento on any of the 3 days I’ll be in Sorrento
Thanks .. just want to feel safe with a trusted driver and wonder the cost ?

Email your Sorrento hotel for their land-travel partner. Concierge can book this and maybe charge to your room. Probably 200-240 Euros for 8 hours. You’ll have to guarantee it even if you’re late arriving (trusted client ...)

I don't think you can hire trusted driver in Naples. I don't mean dishonest, just too wild.

We stayed in an apartment in Naples 2 years ago. The owner, Niki B., is exceedingly friendly and honest. I know he provides local driving and tours for small parties. His place is listed under Casa Michelangelo in Naples. He is listed on Airbnb, TripAdvisor and Facebook. If you can track him down, tell him Arnie and Becky recommend him. Sorry I don’t have his number.

We took taxis while in Naples. Wow, u gotta have nerves of steel even as a passenger. Fast, aggressive,
Assertive etc. be forwarned. It does not matter u drives within the city limits this is Naples. We also took one bus alot less hectic and walked alot. Beware of crossing streets whether u have green or not.
This is only in Central Naples, we rented a car from airport and found it more tranquil as we left tomgo east.

In November 2018, we were in Naples for the day having arrived via cruise ship. We hired Franceso Marrapese after seeing great reviews on sites such as Trip Advisor and Cruise Critic and he did not disappoint. We spent the entire day with him and drove the Amalfi Coast. He grew up in the area and seemed to know everyone. He has a beautiful late model Mercedes Benz van that is very comfortable with plenty of room for luggage.
He was more than a driver. He told stories about the area, knew the best way to get around and the sights to see. We had an absolutely wonderful day with Franceso and highly recommend him. He is quick to respond via email. Let him know what you want to do and he will make suggestions and will give you a price. We gave him a credit card just in case we were a no show (apparently there have been cruise ship passengers who have stood him up), but nothing was charged in advance and we paid in cash at the end of the day. He was an excellent driver and we felt very safe. He is the best parallel parker I've ever seen!
