Anyone going on Italy Village tour starting August 31st?

Hi, We have signed up for the Village Italy tour Aug 31st. We are spending two and half days in Venice before the tour starts. Wondering if anyone else might be doing the same. We have signed up for the RS suggested Pub Tour in Venice on Aug 29th if more people sign up. I am sure they will as time gets closer. But, right now we are the only two.
I am Sue and my husband is Charlie. We live on Cape Cod,MA

Would love to meet someone in Venice.

Sue, my wife and I are considering either the Village or South Italy tour, though later in the season. However, I am curious to know where you decided to stay in Venice prior to the start of your tour (never been there). We may be added a couple of days there while in country.

Lew, We are staying at Hotel Campeillo. It was recommended by several people here and also in the RS Venice tour book we bought. We have never been to Italy so we are excited. Last year we did the GAS (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) it was outstanding. Sorry we waited so long to tour. better later than never.
Enjoy your tour which ever one you choose.

Lew, forgot to say if you mention RS when you email the hotel they give you a better rate. Tell them you are coming ahead to join a tour.

We are going on the sept 7th Village Italy. Arriving early in Venice with reservations at Hotel Ala. This seems to be centrally located between St Marks, Rialto & Accademia. Along with being convenient to a water transportation stop, it fits well in our budget for a couple nights. Wish we were all on the same tour as it would have been fun to meet you (Sue & Lew). Would love to hear from anyone else doing the 9/7 tour also!

My husband and I, along with two friends, will be on the September 7th Village tour, so Gail, we'll be meeting you. I know this sounds crazy, but this will be the second time we'll be taking this particular tour....we were first there in 2008....our friends were planning to go and we had such an amazing experience the first time around that we decided we'd do it again. Sue and Charlie, we're planning three days in Venice as well...we think it will be the perfect start to the trip. We live in eastern Washington...close to the Idaho border.

Cathy, We are excited for the tour. The downside of starting the tour means summer will be ending on Cape Cod. Even though I am wishing time to fly I don't wish summer away. We waited way too long for it this winter. The last of our snow melted Wednesday...
Where are you staying in Venice? We took the GAS tour last year and would do that one over in a flash. It was wonderful.
Enjoy the tour. Safe travels,
Sue

Hi Sue,
We are staying at Locanda Al Leon....and I was starting to get worried...put a lot of emails out to hotels (we need two rooms for four of us) and most were full. I couldn't figure out why because I thought I was giving this plenty of time and then read that the first Sunday in September is the Regata Storica (gondoliers and others compete in a regatta that starts with a pageant down the Gran Canal). It looks amazing, so we're so glad we'll be there. I think it goes dates back to 1489....Google for more info.

Hi--We are also signed up for the Sept. 7th Village Italy, and are also spending time in Venice before and after the trip. We are coming from Orange County in southern California, and look forward to seeing those of you on the tour on the 7th. Sue and Charlie, have fun the week before us!

Hi Cathy & Steve, Thanks for your messages! So nice to hear from some fellow travelers for 9/7. That makes at least 8 of us (with Cathy's 2 friends). We may end up an extra small group? but that can be very nice and we're looking forward to meeting you all =).

BTW Cathy, I don't think you're crazy at all to repeat a RS tour. Speaks volumes for Village Italy being a great tour and sounds like we've all made a good choice. My family has been on the GAS and Greece tours. Would repeat either one in a minute (esp Greece). From good itineraries, to great guides, to meeting nice fellow travelers...always enjoyable.

Appreciate the note about the Regata going on in Venice, Cathy, & will definitely be googling for more info.

Sue & Charlie, hope you hear from more of your future tour family. The pub tour sounds like fun..enjoy!
