Anyone done the Vasari Corridor Tour?

We're quite interested in doing that tour (which includes part of the Uffizi also). Has anyone done this tour and was it worth it? Seems like a neat opportunity to tour a fascinating historical and artistic area. Also my husband is a photographer, and possibly we'll get views not commonly seen.

Yes. I have. But a very long tine who when I was still living in Florence (1980s).

The paintings are mostly portraits and maybe not particularly outstanding. However the walk is interesting for its history and the views from the Ponte Vecchio unique, including the one looking inside the church of Santa Felicita.

It is said that when Hitler visited Florence with Mussolini, who took him on that tour, the Fuehrer was very impressed and that is believed to be the reason why he spared it from destruction during WW2 when the Germans bombed all bridges except for that one.

I've done this tour. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't say it was "all that". The artwork is mainly portraits. There are some small windows that you can look out of. The history of the corridor/bridge is interesting. But overall I thought the tour was overpriced, and Florence has so many other sights and interesting things to do and see more worth my time and money. I might go to the Uffizi again, but I wont do that tour again.
