Anyone been to Bari, Italy?

We are just starting to plan a trip for next year and I was wondering if anyone had been to Bari? Can we spend a couple days there? Where would we fly out from to come back to the U.S?

Why Bari? I've heard it's an ugly industrial city. Now, Lecce I could understand. It's supposed to be beautiful. But be warned, the Puglia region isn't particularly easy to get to. You'll probably need a car.

We will have been in Dubrovnik and thought that would be a good place to go for a few days. After what you said, I think I will look someplace else! I really appreciate your info.

Cindy Please pass this place by. Bari is an on/off port for the ferries. We spend 4 hours too many when our cruise ship stopped there. There is nothing to see. There is a castle that when I looked on line at looked interesting.NOT!!! It was over priced to walk through and there were NO artifacts in it to view. It will take you about 1 hours to walk around and that is it.
You could so mach better any where else.

I know, right? Cindy, for your sake I'm just so glad this wasn't one of those postings that goes "I just booked a non-refundable hotel in Bari. What are some interesting things to do there?" (^_^)
