Is there any update on the heat and drought conditions in Italy? I know they were bad as of last month, but what is the status now?
Are they still turning the fountains off?
The drought was in Rome, anyway it's raining.
So glad to hear they are getting rain. They need it.
It's not difficult to check the current and projected forecast for anywhere at all in Italy. Just google up "weather in (city)". Here's the current/10-day projection for Rome:

Granted, long-term forecasts can change a lot as they're too far out to be set in stone.
The fountains are not much of an issue, and not much you could do about it anyway so enjoy the trip!
Delighted to hear that it's raining, Dario!
Definitely seems like the weather has turned for the better but just to clarify they never really turned off the fountains.
It was discussed and voted down, a couple at the Vatican were turned off only,.
In Central Rome they ran every day even during the height of the drought, not only the fountains but also the water drinking stations throughout the city were running.
That one rain we got lasted around 13 minutes in Rome and that's it. Not nearly enough. I think it sprinkled a tad the next day and none since.
The good news is that since around September 1, the mornings, evenings and nights are very cool. That means you need a change of clothes for when it heats up nice and hot during the day.
