Hello all, First thanks for previous help on this site. We are going to Italy in May. We already booked an apartment in Lake Como for 4 days. We plan to see the sites and make a day trip to Milan. We are than going to Cinque Terre and your suggestions are helping us to find an apartment there. Our last stop is Venice. We would like a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment for 3 or 4 days. We are having trouble finding an apartment in Dosodouro where we wanted to say. Is the transportation by water taxi and train from the other islands inconvient or far from the other islands if we stay on Cannaregio?
Any other suggests were to stay that is convienent transportation? We prefer quiet area, so we don't need to be right on top of a tourist area. Thanks in advance

Hi Tom. What sources have you tried to find an apartment? We had great luck with VRBO.com, and others recommend SleepInItaly.com and ViewsonVenice.com. Cannareggio is quite convenient. I'd say avoid the Lido and the mainland, but anywhere within the "fish" or the main islands of Venice is convenient. I don't think you'd ever be more than a 20 minute walk to San Marco, maybe 30 if you stay near the station. And if you get a Venice Connected pass, you can hop on and off the vaporettos as you desire for a very reasonable price.

We have had good luck with these folks as well. www.veniceapartments.org They seem to have a lot of availability in May next year. We like the area in Castello around Campo Santa Maria Formosa as well as the area in Dorsoduro around the Accademia.
