Any recommendations on what island to stay on in the Aegadian islands in Sicily?

Hi we have two extra nights in Sicily and thought we may hop over to the Aegadian islands . What island would be good to stay on? We are most interested in a mix of hiking, swimming in uncrowded beaches and beautiful water. A town with some restaurants would be great too. Any suggestions as to hotels or VRBOs would be helpful too.

Thanks,
Maryanne

I enjoyed my 3 night stay in the island of Lipari.
I’ll link that part of my trip report here for more detailed information.
Enjoy your time in beautiful Sicily!

Oops! I misread the title of your post.
Lipari is one of the Aeolian islands! Ha!

Anyway, I did visit the island of Favignana, as a day trip from Trapani, but was somewhat underwhelmed.
Here’s that part of my trip report if you’re interested.

I took a day trip out to the Egadi Islands from Trapani. I don't remember which one(s) I saw. I was underwhelmed as an American who doesn't go to Europe to sit on a beach, even an uncrowded one. I now understand that any uncrowded beach in Europe is going to get great reviews even if there isn't much else nearby.

For your purposes, it sounds as if this could be a worthwhile jaunt. However, as of 2015 it was important to buy your ferry tickets in advance, because visitor numbers were limited (that's why the beaches are uncrowded). In addition, you had to choose the time of your return boat when you bought the round-trip ticket. There were two companies making the trip, and you had to travel both ways with the same company.
