Any recommendations on beaches to visit in Southern Sicily

My family of 5 will be in Sicily 7/2-7/11 visiting Catania, Taormina, Siracusa and Agrigento during our planned out trip. Curious if anyone has a must see beach to go to during our trip in any of these places. I am working to visit the beach and cliffs at Scala dev Turchi outside of Agrigento but having a hard time getting passes online to walk the cliffs.

Hi there, when you're in Siracusa, you may want to consider beaches south of Noto, like San Lorenzo and the beaches that are part of nearby Vendicari Nature Reserve. Noto also has a beach area.

I believe Ortigia just has some very small gravel patches for beaches but feel free to double check that.

Of the places you are visiting, Agrigento area has probably the best beaches.

In Taormina you can take the cable car down to a small cove by Isola Bella, it is pebbles/rocky, but the surroundings are beautiful.

For Catania, you would have to go to the Southern edge of the city, there is a sandy strip with a number of beach clubs, you can get there by bus.

On Ortigia, there really are no beaches, just gravel banks along the seawall where people lay out and swim. There are a couple beaches across the bay.

Around Agrigento, you mentioned Scala dei Turchi, but there are sandy beaches all along the coast, you can either find a relatively deserted stretch, or go to a beach club. We spent the day at a beach club in San Leone, rented chairs and an umbrella, very relaxing. For the Agrigento area, it works best if you have a car.

If you can’t get passes, there’s a nice beach nearby at Lido Rossello. From the beach you get a great look at the type of cliffs that are at Scala dei Turchi. We got a parking place right by Trattoria del Pesce restaurant. We were there in late September 2018 and there was nobody at the beach.

Close to Agrigento, there are a wide, sandy beaches at San Leone and Punta Bianca (within a reserve) ..those are among many good beaches in Agrigento province. But you should have a car...

Do you have a car? Without a car you will be severely limited to where you can go.
Near Siracusa there is Fontane Bianche, which has a very nice beach. You can go to Fontane Bianche also by train from Siracusa. The beach is not too far to walk to. In Southern Sicily I've also been to the Vindicari Natural Reserve. They have a decent beach there too, but you need a car.

Near Taormina, just below the town (perched on the hill above), there is the Isola Bella beach. It's kind of rocky/pebbly but the waters are nice and clear, wear aqua shoes. There is also a sandy beach in Giardini Naxos. Not really the Caribbean but acceptable.

Near Agrigento I know only the Scala dei Turchi. It's cliffs.

I don't know near Catania. I know there is a large sandy beach south of the city (south of the port), but I've never been.
