Yes! Highly recommend. Cortina is probably the most touristy, expensive town in the Dolomites but very beautiful in both the city and the setting. Cortina has a late afternoon/early evening tradition that is pretty entertaining...my husband and I call it the money parade...everyone walks up and down the main pedestrian street displaying their finest in jewelry, furs and mountain getups...just find a bench and enjoy the show!
So many great hikes in the area but I particularly like the walks around the Drei Ziinnen, the Langkoffel Gruppe, the Seiser Alm, and the Marmolata. All have exceedingly fantastic views and are easily accessible by gondolas and lifts, one of the joys of hiking in the Alps!
You can easily drive from Cortina to Venice...it's not a long or difficult drive but you will have no use for a car in Venice. You'll park it in a lot outside the city and never use it again until you leave. Consider taking a train to save on the cost of a car that you won't use. If you need to have a car after Venice then just rent another one after your stay is over.

Cortina was great a few years back but now quite run down and neglected and still very expensive. You should try the Val Pusteria area. German speaking Italy and therefore clean and well-run. We stayed in San Candido and managed to do the Three Peaks of Lavaredo and many other wonderful walks.
