Any recommendations for a day trip guide/driver for Sicily - leaving from Taormina

I'm looking to do two day trips - nothing unusual. One to Siracusa and one to maybe Noto, Ragusa and perhaps one more place.

I'm having trouble finding a guide. Although there's a lot of them, I've nixed the group tours because it seems like most of the ones out of Taormina are multi-language and very large groups. I did something multi-language last month in Costa Rica and it pretty well stopped all conversation flat while the guide covered two languages.

I have one company that I've gotten a bit of pricing from but then a couple of others I haven't heard back from. I'd really like to contact just a single guide - not a company, if that's possible.

Anyone have someone they really liked? We're open to more of a driver, not a certified guide - we've had luck with that in numerous other places. We enjoy the conversation as we're driven to towns/sites and then happy to wander the sites on our own.

I'm planning my solo trip to Sicily, and in the same boat. The recommended tour companies only publish prices for time, i.e. half day, full day, etc. They are reasonable for a couple or groups, but pricey for one person. I have yet to contact them to see if a solo can join a group tour.

I have bookmarked this driver/guide:

It's been awhile, but we used these guys in October 2010 for transport to and from the Catania airport to Taormina, and also for a 'Godfather' tour, 4-hour daytrip to the medieval towns of Forza D'Agro, Savoca & Castelmola above Taormina where the Sicilian scenes from Godfather I & II were filmed. Would not have wanted to drive it. Also visited some freaky catacombs near Savoca. I'm sure they do other Sicilian tours as well, including Etna. We were happy with them. Ask for Sebastiano.

I feel like I've exhausted all of our options at this point. I don't want to rent a car. The big bus tours have dismal reviews out of Taormina....60 people, 3 languages going at all times...and still costing us 110 Euros plus entry fees. So we've decided to go the private route. PM me if your dates somehow match - July 5 or 6 for us - and you want to come with us.

I've decided on Chiara Rozzi. She's looks wonderful from her reviews.

@Jay - Thank you. I've emailed with them a bit. They don't tell me who they'd send out but their price is 300 Euro just for the driver. I think I've found someone who might be a good fit for us here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187892-d2339490-Reviews-Taormina_Tourist_Service_Tours-Taormina_Province_of_Messina_Sicily.html

And I did try to contact someone who apparently the RS guides like in Sicily - SicilywithSebastian, but after two contact attempts I never heard back.

Are you staying in Taormina? IMHO, Siracusa makes a better base for day trips to the baroque towns due to proximity to Noto (1 hour) and Ragusa (2) hours. Plus it's bigger and much more to do there than (tiny) Taormina. Very easy to get around Sicily via bus or train, no need for a car. Really no need for tour guide either unless tour guides really enhance your experience. The one place I would have loved a guide was the expansive Archeological Museum in Siracusa. The small print in English and lack of any other materials (like a paper map and descriptions) really don't do the place justice (and the funniest aspect was that they had surveys they wanted visitors to fill out - only in Italian! that was really a sad joke and really undermines this fine museum). I saw folks with specific guidebooks (that they bought elsewhere) just to navigate that museum. I really would have benefitted from a guide there.

Thanks for the input. I do see that Siracusa is better for touring logistics but we're committed to Taormina. Taormina is the last stop on our trip and it's our habit to make our final stop one of those beautiful, jaw dropping places (others have been Positano, Dubrovnik etc.) So we typically do very little at our last stop but sit around and relax. We usually shell out more money for lodging at this last stop and so we have a great apartment with a fantastic view.

At any rate - so it's Taormina instead of Siracusa. I just want us to get out for one day. My travel partner has just decided we're going to pay for a private tour at this point. He's being extra kind - this is my 50th birthday celebration trip:)

We used a tour guide in Taormina we loved. Natalie was suggested by our hotel to do an afternoon Mt Etna tour. We ended up being the only couple on the tour and had personalized attention. She gave us exactly what we wanted and more. Plus she customized a wine tour for us the next day. She asked us if we wanted a bigger touristy winery or a smaller boutique winery. (She also gave us the option of doing a customized Godfather tour. I never saw any of the movies). We opted for the smaller boutique winery. She speaks 5 languages and was very knowledgeable. Her boss took Melania Trump around when they were there for G8 summit. Let me know if you are interested in contact info.

@mstahl26 - Thank you for your reply! We booked a really great-sounding woman named Chiara Rozzi yesterday.
