Any info on the Zattere area of Venice ?

We are looking at renting an Airbnb in Venice and found one that we like in the Zattere area. We have never been to Venice.

Any info on the area is appreciated. We are looking for ease of public transportation and general info about the area.

I would be very thankful for any advice as the owner’s English is basic and my Italian is non existent.

I consider that to be a very convenient area and at the same time not overly crowded. The vaporetto stop has service in all directions, and I've used it even when staying closer to Ca Rezzonico. You're near to the Accademia museum and bridge, restaurants, gondola workshop, a supermarket, etc.

Venice is small and you can get anywhere by walking. The Zattere is a waterfront promenade, very nice. The best gelato in town is located there too. It is adjacent to Dorsoduro which fronts the Grand Canal.

That's a great area, for the reasons stated - handy vaporetto services (multiple lines), a decent walk to other areas, and a bit out of the way of the most congested parts of Venice.

Venice is a rather small island and being away from San Marco and the hordes of tourists sounds like an A+ decision!

It is a very good location to watch sunset on the Giudecca Channel. 8-)

I've stayed in Dorsoduro twice when I visited Venice and each time we spent time in Zattere. It's a very different part of Venice, being away from the Grand Canal.
I like the feel there and I'm even considering it for where to stay on my next trip in 2020.

And Suki, if you're talking Gelateria Nico, you're talking my language. If you're not, then you need to get with the program. Nico is my traditional first gelato in Venice and will be again next year, whether I find a place in Zattere or not!

I've stayed once on the Zattere and at least 3 times near it. Love it. You've made an excellent choice.
