Any idea of Cost of Taxi- Milan to Bellagio

Hi there-

We are landing in Milan Oct. 2 and staying for a couple of days so I can do a business meeting. Then we are heading to Bellagio on Tuesday early evening. I'd like to arrange a taxi ride/driver to Bellagio. Any idea of the cost?

We could take the train to Como and then the ferry across, but after a long day, I may just want the easy way. =0)

Thanks!

When I was there in 2019 this trip was €150. If you google you should get some options, or ask your hotel.

For years we hired private drivers from FCO to Bellagio and $150-160 is about right for what we’ve paid.

Suki, from Rome Fiumicino airport to Bellagio on Lake Como? That's a 7-8-hour drive, one way, so couldn't be that price. Did you mean from Malpensa?

Eileen, I really cannot believe you posted this (in a good way!!) because a similar idea occurred to me this morning when I was hiking. I’ve not left myself enough time in Milan to visit the nearby town where a great-great grand father/mother emigrated from. I was going to post asking the same question for Milan to Varenna with a short side diversion.

Thank you! And thanks to those who responded!

I paid 190 euro from Bellagio to Milan airport for three of us in late June; didn't find anything cheaper. Taking ferries, walking and taking train would have been too much!

Well, we may keep the cost down by taking a taxi from our hotel in Milan straight to the ferry ticket booth. Then arrive the Romaric way via ferry!

Eileen, if you're willing to take the ferry part of the way, you might as well take the train from Milano Cadorna to Como Nord Lago, which is 1/4 mile from the pier. To make your life easy, take a taxi to Cadorna. The trains from Cadorna to Como run every 30 minutes, and it will be more relaxing than a taxi all the way out of Milan through PM rush hour traffic.

In other words: in my opinion, either take a cab/ use a driver all the way, or use public transport, but I am not sure that there is a lot of value in an in-between solution.

Great advice. I’m back on the taxi-all-the-way to Bellagio path. I’ll be jetlagged and off a day of meetings. Bonus if I can drink Prosecco in the back seat. Kidding. Sort of…..😎

There is a train from Milano Centrale to Varrena-Esino leaving once an hour on weekdays. Costs about 7 Euro one way. From Varrena there is a 15 minute ferry to Bellagio. The ferry terminal is close to the train station. I was thinking of doing this as a day trip from Milan. Looks pretty easy but I'm not sure of ferry schedules in November when I will be traveling. If that isn't luxe enough for you, you could always purchase first class tickets for your 1 hour train ride. You are allowed to take your own bottle of Prosecco on the train. Probably on the ferry, too, if there is any wine left in the bottle.

Eileen, if the €’s aren’t a problem for you then I can’t recommend the taxi enough vs the train. I’ve done both and I guess that I’m at a point in my life where I will pay for comfort and convenience every time over saving €100 or being exhausted and having several transfers.

If you mention it to the taxi in advance they will likely have a cold Prosecco waiting. 😊

@April- ok, after taking planes, trains, and automobiles In San Francisco today. I’m all over the private driver and chilled Prosecco. I’m spending the money for comfort! Bellisimo!

hey hey eileen
good call and choice. it is so so worth it. we did that in geneva to annecy for 95E.
we'll have fruit and wine for dinner one night to make up that cost.
leave the driving to them, they know where they are going and get dropped off at front door . enjoy your time at the lake.
we also take a private water taxi in venice for 100E, have our glass of prosecco and celebrate. always carry a bottle opener with us, never know when you will need it.
in france we took a taxi back to apartment and had him stop & wait at a store so we could pick up salami, cheese and wine. maybe an extra 5 or 10E and no need go out after. life is good

Let the driver pick the best departure hour to avoid traffic.

I have literally spent hours stucked on Milan's ring road, you think at a luxury transfer on a limo drinking wine... I see a car that moves at a snail's pace surrounded by exasperated commuters, with you blocked inside.

Probably on the ferry,

For sure, there is nothing wrong in drinking wine. Being drunk is another story.

Imagine trenitalia's conductors telling people what to drink... 10 minutes later the guy pushing trenitalia's rolling cart has tried to sell wine to the same people!
