So we leave California in August 25th and after layovers and time changes we arrive at Marco Polo at 11:30 pm on the 26th.
It seems so late to find transport onto the island of Venice and then find the apartment.
Thinking The most realistic thing to do would be find a clean inexpensive room near the airport and then head into Venice early the next morning… I’ve been looking online but I would really appreciate personal suggestions please

It's free to sack out at the airport (or I was 4 years ago. maybe check current rules) The airport says its closed overnight, but that only means no commercial services are open.
There is a Courtyard by Marriot about 1 km from the airport. Unfortunately, their shuttle service stops at 11:30 pm, but you could get a taxi. The public bus to Piazzzale Roma in Venice is right outside the hotel across the street, and because it is not from the airport, it is only 1.50 EUR, not the normal 8 EUR airport fare.
