any guided tours in Rome (esp coliseum) / Vatican recommendations

Hello

I'm looking for recommendations on tours for at the Vatican and possibly Coliseum ( dungeons ect) > I have come across a site I believe ticket italy or something like that but before buying I'd like to get input from others. What tours have you found to be great ? like something you would highly recommend ? Thanks for any and all input.

Highly recommend Walks of Italy and their Pristine Sistine tour. As to Colosseo and Forum, try Tony Polzer at ThreeMillennia.com. He did a terrific job for our son and a colleague of mine. You can join a standard tour or have hi out together a private one for you.

For the Vatican museums you can just book on their official website. They have several different tour options so you can pick the one the best fits your needs.

These tours are very good. The guides use headsets so you can hear them clearly above the crowds.

For the colosseum you should book with the official site:

They offer 2 tours, one of the main area of the colosseum and the other of the underground and third tier. You cannot do the underground section without being on a tour.

Just as a side note- there are no dungeons at the colosseum. The underground was the staging area where the props, animals and gladiators were kept before the show.

We are normally not "tour" people, but my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Coliseum Underground tour (only 10 people on the tour) and the Scavi tour at the Vatican (again only 10-12 people). For the Forum and the Vatican Museum (Sistine chapel) we used Rick's Audio tours.

Ron In Rome Scavi tour There's a link that takes you to the website that gives you instructions on requesting a tour.

Tickets to Colloseum Your tour ticket also gets you into the Colleseum and the forum and Pallatine hill. If you purchase the Roma pass, I believe other posters said you had to call for the tour reservation.
