We need a hotel for one night only at the Rome Airport. Has anyone had a great experience? thanks so much, mardi
I second the Rome Hilton. Last two times I used by Hilton Honors points for free night there. Drop your car off the night before. 3 minute walk to the hotel. Get up rested and ready for 90 second ride to terminal. It is on the high side of costs but very nice.
Makes the last night stay and getting to airport in the morning stress free.
By and large the airport hotels are shabby and the staff rude and surly as they are geared towards the business traveler and not tourists. It's not a very nice way to spend a last night in Rome. I like to stay in the city center and have my hotel arrange a car (taxi) to the airport. It takes no time at all to get there, and it's a 40 Euro flat rate. Spend your last night seeing the city one last time before you leave instead of being couped up in a cruddy hotel with lousy food.
And with the introduction of T5 last year, the Hilton is NO LONGER a "walk" if you're departing to the US directly. T5, the terminal US flagged airlines depart from, is not connected to the Terminal Sysytem and you wil have to take a taxi, shuttle, or walk to the main terminal area and catch a shuttle. So if you are flying directly to the US, the Airport Hilton is not as convenient as they advertise.
If you're connecting, and thus using T3 for example, then the HIlton is a far more viable option.
Like most folks though, I'd spend my last night in Rome and then shuttle or taxi to the airport if I had a very early flight. For more info on staying near FCO (or not!), CLICK HERE
Good Luck!
