Any experience with the Salento Airport

We are planning a 12 day trip to Puglia. We are thinking about using Bari and Lecce as home bases. Hoping to visit Matera, Polignano del Mare, Monopoli, Alberobello and Locorotondo from Bari; Otranto and Ostuni from Lecce.
We will be using public transportation and would like to minimize changing accommodations and dragging our suitcases. We are thinking flying in to Bari and out of the Salento airport, that way we don’t have to go back to Bari. We would be flying from Salento to Genoa. Any experience with the Salento airport?

You are referring to the airport known best as Brindisi airport. I've flown in and out of there a few times. It's fine.

In 2018 my family of six flew round-trip Rome to the Brindisi airport, renting and returning our huge rental VAN at the airport --- no problems with the nice small airport or with renting from Europcar.

In November this year, we drove almost to the Brindisi airport to visit the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Casale (5 minutes drive from the airport, 8 minutes walk from the airport). If you want to see a lovely little Romanesque-Gothic church full of 14th century frescoes that is just sitting all by itself among airport parking lots and is free and likely free of other tourists, stop by!

A small airport with all the advantages - easy to navigate, no queues, no hassle 10 minutes by local bus from Brindisi centre. it gets busy July and August but will be quiet late April.
