Looking for some nightlife in/around Alghero and Palau/San Teodoro when we stay from Sept 3 - 12. We will be based first in Alghero and then Palau. Any recommendaitons? We like dancing, but would also enjoy some good live music even without dancing, in particular looking for a cool open-air spot with a nice view? We are in our early 30's and like a good time, but doesn't need to be crazy persay.

Palau in Summer they have street events, with local music and folklore. They have a little piazza with a permanent stage in a small Arena/Amphitheater. It's a small town, so don't expect to have the same as Rome or Florence.

Alghero is a small city (or large town) so it has more. The alleys in the historical center, particularly on the 'passeggiata' along the Bastioni (Ramparts) along the sea shore has lots of bars, restaurants, cafes, some with live music.
Is September 8 - 11 still considered Summer?
Yes. The astronomical summer ends on Sept. 22.
School year in Italy starts on the week of Sept 11-15 depending on the region.
However it won't be anywhere as crowded as August or July.
Early September may have rather hot temperatures. However, being an island, Sardinia gets relief from the breezes near the coast.
