Any comment on these hotel?

We want the hotels to be reasonably convenient (don't mind walking 10-15 minutes from attractions or transport)
I'd like to keep the cost at an average of about $200-$225 per night, include breakfast and have reasonable space (no postage stamp size with 1 double bed)

Venice :Hotel Flora or Hotel Casanova
Florence: Boutique Hotel Hugo
CT: Sailor Rest
Rome: Villa Pinciana

Thanks
Sharon

How did you find these accommodations? Have you read reviews, critically, posted on various websites?

Bruce:

I stayed at Hotel Flora in Venice twice, once as long as nine days. I highly recommend it.

The entrance is down a small alley from a main thoroughfare, which makes it somewhat secluded. San Marco is nearby but the hotel is far enough away that you don't encounter heavy traffic.

It has a lovely garden in back. The breakfast is excellent. The staff was very accommodating.

I don't know how it compares to your other Venetian option.

Haven't stayed in any of them although we did stay at a hotel just 1 block up the street from Hotel Hugo in Florence. You'll be close to a couple of excellent attractions which don't make it onto most first-timer's lists: Museo San Marco, piazza and church of Santissima Annunziata, and Museo degli Innocenti on that same piazza. We were fine with the location, and trekked all over the city from there without difficulty (but we're also big walkers).

The apt. in Riomaggiore looks nice but that loft bed is a little frightening. I can just see us groggily throwing feet over for the wee-hours trip to the john and tumbling tail over teapot down those stairs. Ow.

Yes, I did research these hotels through booking.com. There are just so many............. I agree that the hotel in CT is a little unusual but the reviews were good. I'm still looking around though. Thanks everyone!

The lack of windows in the riomaggori apt would get to me. Also agree with Kathy, I'd fall out of that bed.

We stayed at Hotel Flora one time. It is like a little oasis near San Marco with breakfast served in an outdoor courtyard. Nice hotel but I don’t like staying near the crowded San Marco area.
