Another Travel question. .

Hi, I have a question that I feel too embarassed to ask. I am not sure if it only afflicts very few people or not. It is 'Vacation Constipation'. To me, the negative side of travel , at least for the first day, could be two. In my past trips, I make sure to bring prepackaged prunes that I bought at Safeway and I ate yogurt to help. I shy away from laxatives.

Your digestive system may take a few days to catch up to the time change. Your regular habits might not be on schedule. Eat lightly, purchase and eat fresh or dried fruit, and drink plenty of water. It works for me.

You can buy dried prunes in Europe. I think joghurt is a binding agent, as are other dairy products, so you might want to stay away from those. Have some oatmeal, or musli or other fruits. Drink water and get out there and walk!

I didn't think of Yogurt as a binding agent. Maybe that's why ..
In our previous trips to Europe, We made it a point to eat yogurt at each country we visited. It has probiotic and help us acclimate our stomach. There is a good likelihood that I cut down on water intake on trips due to the hassle of finding a restroom. Thanks.

My sister introduced me to a very nice tea called "Smooth Move" by Traditional Medicinals - it's probably in the organic/natural section of the grocery store. It's got senna, orange peel, licorice root, cinnamon bark, and lots of other tasty stuff, and i find it does help keep things moving when I'm traveling. I've only seen it as tea bags; I always drop a few into my bag nowadays.

I take a fiber supplement (Citrucel caplets) 2xdaily. I make sure to continue taking them when traveling. And drink a ton of water.
