Anniversary in Tuscany, spring 2027

Hello, my wife and I are considering spending our anniversary next in Tuscany/Northern Italy. We’ve been to 30+ countries in Europe since 2011 spending just shy of a year of time over 6-7 trips.

Both love Europe incredibly and after a recent trip to Japan which was amazing we both have an itch to go back to Europe ASAP. (Sorry for the humble brag I’m just trying to preface our preference)

We are considering Tuscany/Northern Italy for like 10 days to 2 weeks, would love any thoughts on home bases or off the beat villas to rent, spots truly memorable and high quality. We’d likely be flying into Rome and would be open to renting a car the entire time etc. any starting advice would be greatly appreciated as I typically find the advice here to be very helpful in beginning research for a trip, thanks

Edit* have spent probably almost 2 months in Italy previously, have been to Pisa, Florence, Cinque Terre, Venice, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi coast. I find Italy be Quintessential Europe and do enjoy the stereotypical experience as well lol

Since you have been in Florence and Pisa, I'm gonna recommend Lucca, a city many tourists miss but it is very much worth going to!

Medieval city walls, lovely old town, amazing food (like the rest of tuscany), and an ancient neoclassical aqueduct that can be visited (Nottolini Aqueduct).

I was there multiple times in the last years and love going back every time I can.
