What is best way to get from Brescia to Anfo, near Lago Idro? Very small town west of Lake Garda where we are to meet some friends.

There seems to be bus service, but the schedule I found online is dated 2015, so more digging is needed. The 2015 schedule should at least give you an idea of the frequency of the service and how long the trip is likely to take.
Observe the codes at the top of each column. "Giorni Feriali" is workdays (including Saturday). "Giorni Festivi" is Sundays and holidays. "Giorni Scolastici" is school days, which I always have to ask about locally. If you're staying in Brescia before you go to Anfo, you should go to the bus station there to get definitive information. Be prepared to write things down and perhaps use charades, because there's no guarantee that the bus station folks will speak English. Remember that Europeans write dates in the form DD-MM-YY.
Making this trip is not impossible on a Sunday/holiday (based on the 2015 schedule), but there is much less service on those days.
Maybe you should consider renting a car.
