Has anyone been to this concert in Tuscany in the last few years? I have the opportunity to go to this concert in Tuscany which is the home and birthplace of Andrea Bocelli. I have read mixed reviews and am wondering if it is worth the time, effort and money to attend. It is in the heart of summer so crowds and heat will be a factor.
Crowds are relatively orderly and the place is windy so heat is not the main concern. The main concern is getting there; we are talking a tiny village with 1200 residents and sparse public transportation that gets suddenly invaded by 8000 persons. The crowd is not unpleasant but the place is overwhelmed, as the roads and the spaces are those of a tiny village. If you have a car - and I believe even if you go there with a car service - you have to park at the bottom of the valley and take a bus shuttle up to the arena. Personally, as an opera worker, I had the privilege of a close parking in a meadow, but at the end all the people had to leave from a single white road so it took forever to go back to the main road.
Is it worth? It depends on your appreciation of Bocelli and how much are you willing to spend in time and money. Maybe other persons - the subject has been already discussed in this area, run a search - could chime in.
