I can’t figure out how to get a round trip bus ticket to take me from Pisa Central to Lajatico for the Andrea Boccelli concert on 15 July. Help!!
The local bus company has a website here: https://www.at-bus.it/en
You should be able to just tap in/out with your CC, but otherwise just buy a ticket from the driver.
However in your place I would look for accommodation closer. 2 hours of travel after a concert is not something I would enjoy. And taking the train to Pontedra and the bus from there would be quicker.
Take the train from Pisa to Pontedera (Pisa - Florence line)
www.trenitalia.com
Then from the Pontedera station take the AT bus 500 to Volterra.
Only few buses stop in Lajatico so choose the right one. Download timetable in PDF below.

Certain rural locations are best done by rental car. Rent one at the Pisa airport for a day.
I advise you not to rely on public transportation. It is a big event in a small village that is completely overrun for a day (or more, including rehearsal days). Most people will have a package including tickets and transportation, and maybe even local accomodation. There are agencies organizing transportation to/from the concert, try googling "bocelli concert lajatico 2024 transfer" (it may help writing his name with the correct spelling).
A rental car is not a bad idea; but even with a car, you are likely to be stopped at a parking area down the valley with free shuttles to concert area.
I have attended a few concerts being in the staff. Even with a pass to the personnel reserved parking, the access is still somewhat unconfortable. It takes a long time after the concert to clear the area from the public.
I apologize for the misspelling… my fingers go faster than my brain sometimes… I’ve googled, I’ve used my AI app, I’ve used Trip Advisor and I also got onto the Maestro’s website… no info there about transportation! I’ve been to his concert before (5,6,7 years ago) in Lajatico and we had to take busses… I went to big hotels asking the concierge’s if they have info…nobody seems to know. And yes, there are packages which include transportation but I couldn’t afford the prices. I also tried travel agents (here in Pisa) who could not help me either. This is such a mystery!!
Well, there is a company organizing bus transfers (eventinbus.com - the Italian web section is much more complete than the English section) but I see that the bus for tomorrow is already sold out.
Or may be you could try phoning https://www.ariannandfriends.com (phone numbers on the website) explaining that you already have the ticket and see if they can add you to one of their transfers.
If not, car hire seems your only option and probably the cheapest. Everyday bus services to/from Lajatico have only a couple runs per day at impossible times.
Thank you everyone for responding… I went into a few hotels and asked the concierge’s….only the last hotel (Grand Hotel Duomo) was able to suggest a driver that they use regularly. He was busy (who would have guessed!) but he gave me another person that he knows who, it turns out will be driving me and another woman to the concert!!!! Thanks again!
