Anacapri for 3 nights or Praiano for 3 nights

We are a family of four which includes two young men in their twenties we are traveling from Florence by train to the Amalfi Coast. We are looking for a relaxing 3 night stay in either Anacapri or Praiano. This is our "vacation within our vacation" meaning we wish to take leisurely hikes, spend time on a beach, take a boat ride, sip some great drinks, and enjoy fantastic views. We also wish to make our way to Pompeii. We do not plan to rent a car and wish to rely on buses, trains, or boats (short distances).

Which location might be the best place to stay?

We stayed inn Praiano at Hotel Margherita a few years ago and loved it. They have a lovely restaurant with fantastic views. They had a car service to take us down to a beautiful little beach and picked us up when we were ready. We hiked the Path of the Gods- spectacular views. We hired a boat for a 3 hour ride along the coast and we stopped to swim in the caves and jump off cliffs (it was my son's 23d birthday that day) Hotel also had a roof top pool.
Praiano is a little quieter than Capri and easier to get to.

Linda,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it must have been wonderful. It sounds very much like what we are looking for!

I don't find Positano as relaxing as Praiano.

Yes, Positano is more touristy than Praiano, but it has the advantage of multiple boat companies going to Capri. I don't think you have that option from Praiano.

I have not stayed in either town. Buon viaggio.

I think that staying in Praiano has more options for you.....if you were in Anacapri, you would be at the mercy of the ferries.....on the peninsula, you could go where you wanted with a little more freedom....

but both will be gorgeous! have fun!
