American Airlines flight canceled to FCO. Anyone else?

Has anyone else had their flight canceled to FCO in Sept out of JFK on American? I’m not sure if this is a result of their staffing issue they just announced but it’s frustrating! I hoped things would pick up for flights to Italy with some restrictions being lifted but maybe not.

I’m waiting for a call back with their current estimated wait time of 4.5 hours to try to get another flight.

AA is having severe staffing problems. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled over the past few days. It has nothing to do with Italy.

Clearly I understand they’re having problems. As are most airlines. I just asked if anyone else had their flight canceled. I’m sure many others who have rebooked their trips only to have them canceled again can relate.

We have a flight scheduled for next month to FCO that hasn’t been canceled as of this moment. AA did however cancel portions of our September trip to Madrid, so now the routing doesn’t even make sense unless we plan to fly ourselves to Chicago to start the journey. I am so concerned about actually getting to Italy next month that I have a back up flight scheduled on BA, but it routes through Heathrow. So, if there are any issues with transiting through the UK we can’t go that route. Hopefully one of the two options will have us enjoying la dolce vita soon.

I just booked a flight. The prices were climbing daily. Maybe they will get more planes and staff and the prices will fall, but i had to settle for a RT flight with 2 stopovers each way that cost more than double what a nonstop usually costs.

It's not JFK to FCO but our AA flights from PHL to FCO in August were cancelled last week.

I just learned today (because I was looking at our record) that we have been rerouted from ORD - FCO on 9/2 to now go through Dallas. Our seats are not what we paid for so I am waiting the 4+ hours now for a call back. Interestingly our return flight thru ORD is still on. Not sure why they didn’t notify us.

While all the airline cancellations and itinerary changes are frustrating (not to mention the 5-hour waits to speak to a customer service rep at an airline), this is what international travel is in 2021. Uncertainty. Constant change. Inconvenience. Risk. This is what you are signing up for if you travel this year. And I'm signed up for 2 trips.

Me too Dave. One flight in the lower 48 and one to Europe. Our US flights have changed 5x and thankful not cancelled. Not made our Europe flights yet.
It’s no real surprise either. Cannot expect everything to open smoothly without these many bumps! Just like so much of life around us lately…We still need to roll with it.

Ditto here to multiple flight changes for our trip next month. We have had 6 flight changes for our flights going from SAN to GVA including going from a 1 connection to 2 connections. Part of the adventure of being an early adopter back to international travel??

After reading these posts I checked on our 9/30 flight BNA to PHL to FCO. American has 1) changed our BNA to PHL leg to later flight with an uncomfortably short 1:15 connection time; 2) moved my seat so that I’m no longer sitting next to my wife; and 3) changed our other traveling companion from premium economy to having no seat assignment (PE shows no available seats.) I’m hoping to get it all sorted out but the reported hold/call back times are discouraging.
