Amalfi Weather last week of May

Hello All - sorry for what may seem to be a silly question but here goes:

We will be ending three weeks in Italy with a week split between Sorrento and Amalfi. I live in the desert and I know that temps will feel different on the coast. SO, in looking at the weather is it generally warm enough for sandals? I am guessing that Rome in the first week of May would be too cool, then we head to Sicily which is also a toss up.

Again, I know it sounds silly so please don't berate me for posting, I'm just trying to pack light. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.

So hard to predict weather anymore!
Yes it could be warm enough for sandals in Sorrento/Amalfi - even in Rome early May.
But it could also be pouring rain as it was when we were in Sorrento end of may 2019.
Be prepared!

I don't usually wear sandals while traveling anymore- feet get too dirty and cobblestones require a better shoe. ;)

Since you will need two pairs of shoes bring your sandles for sure and also a sturdier pair of walking shoes which you will probably want to wear most of the time because the cobblestones are really hard on feet.
And yes, it will most probably be quite warm at the end of May.

We were there last May. It wasn’t warm enough in my opinion, 60’s and we had a couple of thunderstorms but I guess it depends on how warm you need it to be to feel comfortable in sandals.

I'm a Texan I'm used to the heat, I can't tolerate the cold (anything below 50). I went to Rome mid April and Sorrento 3rd week of April. I only wore shorts ONE day and I regretted it. I recommend a day bag with light jacket and light pant (I have athletic basketball pants). There are lots of people so even if its only 75 all the crowds and you moving warms up your body. That said, I still wore denim jeans with no jacket on most days. I also wanted to blend in since shorts are what tourists wear.
