Amalfi town to ravello

How long will the bus from Amalfi to Ravello take? I’ve read 25 minutes and I’ve read 1.5 hours! Is it worth the trip? Since I couldn’t spend more than 3-4 hours there, it makes a big difference . Also, what time of day would be best to go from Amalfi town to Ravello?

No more than 25 minutes

I’d go as early as you can, the bus will only get more crowded as day goes on meaning you might not even be able to board the bus and have to wait for the next

That happened to us so we took the red City Sightseeing open top bus instead. It was right there in same area, nobody else on it
5 euros and a much more pleasant ride being in the open air

We loved the gardens and views at Villa Cimbrone- make the time to walk there at least

We stayed over and took the SITA bus back to Amalfi
Be sure to buy your return ticket in Amalfi (at tabac)

The bus ride is a little more than 10 minutes. I shot this video of the bus ride back down to Amalfi from Ravello, l only stopped and restarted the video when the bus stopped to pick up people a couple of times on the way down.

Tip: everyone waits at the tunnel exit near the center of Ravello for the bus back down to Amalfi, and it might be tough getting on if there are a lot of people waiting there. So instead of waiting at that spot, wait at the stop just down the street by the other tunnel (at the stop sign about 20 seconds into the video...no one gets on at that stop, so you'll already be on the bus when the mass of people fights to board at the main stop in Ravello)

Just going to throw out the idea of a taxi. They’re expensive, but in my opinion so worth it especially if you’re limited on time. There is usually a group of people waiting for a taxi and it’s easy to find some that are more than willing to split a taxi fair to the top of the hill to Ravello. It’s about 10 minutes up.

Lastly, you could walk up. That would definitely take close to an hour, but you would have a chance to see some amazing scenery and burn off the pasta. 😊

In October 2019, we took the bus up and walked back down to Amalfi. Less strenuous than walking up but you need good knees. We didn’t need much time there as we just had a coffee at the main square before walking to and toured the gardens before walking down. I don’t remember how long it took but we were back in Amalfi for lunch.
Like most things in Italy, start early before the crowds get there and try to get on the bus.
