Amalfi to Napoli Centrale travel

Hi Everyone - staying in Amalfi at the end of June. My wife and I will need to somehow get from our stay in Amalfi to Naples to catch a train at Napoli Centrale for our final swing up to Rome.

Any recommendations on the best way to get from Amalfi up to Napoli Centrale (without a ton of transfers, etc). Would even consider a taxi but I'm thinking those would be a bit hard to come by in Amalfi.

Thanks for any and all tips!

I would take direct fast train from Salerno to Rome, much closer/ easier
Take ferry from Amalfi to Salerno. The Salerno train station is about a 10 min walk from port.
The ferry ride along that part of coast is great.

Awesome! Do you know how many times a day that Ferry goes from Amalfi to Salerno + should I book in advance? Great tip.

I have never slept in Amalfi, but I would not wait until travel day to buy a ferry ticket during high season. You may have a non-changeable, non-refundable Frecciarossa ticket, to save hours of train time to Rome, no? Big penalty for not getting on the ferry you want. It's unlikely, but high winds could cause ferry runs to be omitted, I think. So check on alternates. This is southern Italy, after all.

Tim makes a good point. Although both Salerno and Amalfi docks are large and solid so weather won't affect that ferry quite as much as Positano for example, it could happen that ferry can't run.
Alternatives are the bus or a taxi which are readily available right there near dock/bus stops in Amalfi.

Bus schedule here- buy ticket at Tabachi right next to the bus area

We stayed 2 nights in Salerno after our time in Amalfi and enjoyed it very much. If you have a night to spare you might consider heading to Salerno early in am- drop your bags at hotel then easy/quick/cheap train to Paestum to see the amazing Greek temples. It was a worthwhile diversion and Salerno is a nice little town with few tourists and less expensive lodging than Amalfi. Catch your train to Rome the following morning.
We stayed here- it was a great location and perfectly fine for a 2 night stay.

Do a few searches here "Salerno" and "Paestum" for more info.

Lastly for a definite transfer you can book ahead and not worry about weather or timing- probably around 100 euros (taxi would be about the same)
